Hounds' Second Half

By:
As the days are getting shorter, the DuPage Hounds season is dwindling even faster. With only 15 games reminding, the Hounds are in the heat of a regular season championship. Eight of their final 15 games are against teams with a winning record making the final stretch no breeze. Manager of the Hounds, Sean Osborn, wanted his players to do what they have been doing.

“(I want our guys) mostly to have fun. If we keep that attitude we are going to be good down the stretch”, Osborn said, “Since the beginning our pitching is our strongest aspect. As long as they do their jobs, our hitters are going to come around. If we keep it lose and have fun the rest of the way it’s going be good for us.”

The Hounds have played solid baseball the whole season leading them to an 11-6 record. With a team batting average of .260 and a team earned run average of 3.28, they have put themselves in a position to be regular season MCL champions.

“Down the stretch all these games are big,” Osborn said, “I just hope somebody cracks one right off the bat in the bottom of the 1st and it’s going keep us alive and going for the next week or so.”

The Hounds start the second half of the season with eight games in nine day. The home stretch is here for the Hounds and manager Osborn feels they are ready.

“I pushed these guys a lot and I expect a lot out of them…They know me now and they understand me now and like I said, now it’s time to have some fun and get the job done.”
