Brian Glynn Throws a Gem

By:

The DuPage Hounds were taking on the Lexington Snipes for the 6th time this season. They have gone 3-2 against the MCL rival and were prepared for a tight contest tonight. The Hounds went with Brian Glynn (1-0, 3.00 ERA) on the bump. He pitched four innings giving up three hits and three runs against the Snipes on June 15. The Snipes countered with Tyler Sabol (3-0, 0.74 ERA) who pitched seven innings of two hit ball one June 2 against the Hounds.

The Hounds defense was active early getting two double plays in the first two innings for the starter Glynn.

In the bottom of the 2nd, the Hounds manufactured a run on a RBI single by Mitch Gasbarro giving them a 1-0 lead. That would prove to be enough.

Glynn was dealing giving up only one hit through five innings of work.

It took till the 6th inning for the Snipes to put some pressure on Glynn. With two outs, Glynn gave up a single which then followed by two consecutive errors to load the bases. The inning ended with a spectacular catch by Conor Philbin in right field as he had a full extension diving catch. The score stayed 1-0 Hounds.

After that threat, it was all Glynn. He pitched nine innings of two hit shutout baseball. He had three walked and seven strikeouts in the game.

Even though Sabol was tagged with the loss, he threw eight innings giving up one run, one walk and punched out six.

With the win, the Hounds moved to 12-6 and took lead of the MCL.

They play tomorrow at 6 p.m. against the Southland Vikings.
