Four days after the Hounds drove down to Lexington and endured a heartbreaking one-run loss, they were instructed to head down south and take on the Snipes once again. Luckily the end story favored the boys from DuPage who managed to throw together 14 hits, which lead the Hounds to a 10-6 victory. It was a hit parade from top to bottom and five Hounds’ starters contributed a multi-hit game.

 

Hunter Morris found himself atop Sean Osborne’s lineup Friday night where he went one for five with a single and a RBI. The Carrier brothers once again found themselves back-to-back, however this time Trent slid up one spot into the two-hole and Shane manned the three-hole. Trent went two for four with a single, double and two RBIs while Shane went one for five with a double.

 

The cleanup spot was manned by everyday Ryan Fitzgerald, who went a team best three for six with two singles, a double and three RBIs. His infield mate, Richie Gorski followed him in the order and went two for five with two booming doubles and a RBI.

 

Next up was Dustin Krob who smacked two singles in his four at bats while driving in a run. Billy Hayes immediately followed and also went two for four, however he reached one a single and double and drove in two RBIs.

 

Bobby Wenthe reached base once on a walk in his four at bats where he would eventually come around and score. Emerson Misch walked twice in the game and scored one run.

 

Tonight’s starter, Nick Alfini received his first starting nod since being named to the 2015 MCL All Star. His numbers weren’t great on paper, but he pitched well enough to keep the Hounds in the ball game and earn his third win of the season. Alfini threw the first six innings in which he gave up six runs on eight hits and six walks while striking out four. One of the Hounds most trusted relievers, Nick McKinney, who recently returned from the disable list came in to throw the final three frames in which he was dominate. He gave up no runs on one hit while striking out two.

 

For Lexington, Neal Tyrell went one for three with a three-run homer. Cale Robinson also hit a two-run bomb in one of his five at bats. Cully Day went two for three with a single and a double and Owen Miller went two for five with two doubles.

 

The Hounds’ next contest is a big one. They take on the NWI Oilmen at 1:00 PM (CT) at the Lemont High School Sports Complex. This is the first time this season that the outcome won’t give us a first place victor, since the Hounds’ currently sit atop the MCL with a 1.5 game lead.
