Hounds Hit the Road

After Wednesday night’s washout, the DuPage Hounds took on the Southland Vikings for the first time this season. The Hounds came into the game boasting a 5-1 record; which leads the Midwest Colligate League.

This is the first series away from the Benedictine University Sports Complex, and it started poorly.

Vikings’ pitching kept the dogs off balance and in check the entire night. Drew LaComb and Matt Richer were the only two Hounds to get a hit. While Viking pitching dominated, the Hounds gave up five hits, seven runs and walked eight.

A six run 5th inning put the game out of reach of the visiting Hounds as the final score was 7-0.

This dropped the Hounds to 5-2 on the season.

After only their second loss of the season, the Hounds tried to rebound against the Lexington Snipes in a Saturday Double Header.

After only two hits on Friday, the offense scored early but the game one went 10 innings. Joey White had the go ahead run in the top of the inning and Brian Rodemoyer had the insurance run.

Patrick Bellinger got the win with four innings of one hit baseball.

The final: 5-3 Hounds.

Game two did not fare as well for the Hounds. Brett Maus struggled through four innings of working giving up six hits and three runs. He was pinned with his second loss of the season.

Final score: 5-1 Snipes

On the Hounds’ first road trip, the offense was a concerning only scoring six runs in 26 innings.

The Hounds’ play a home and home series with the Chicago Zephyrs starting Monday. The Zephyrs have struggled as they are 1-6 on the summer. The Hounds dropped to 6-3 and move to third in the MCL.

The Hounds play at home Tuesday, June 18 at 7 p.m.
