Hound Talk

By:
Coach Ben Caple lives in Westmont Il., and is the batting coach for the Hounds. In his playing days he started at Palomar Community College and finished his career at Indiana State as a utility player. He played alongside head coach Sean Osborn. Caple currently works at Frozen Ropes Training facility in Niles, IL. and is pursuing a masters degree in Higher Education Leadership studies from North Central College.

Coach, in the first long road trip of the year the Hounds struggled at the plate. What did you see?

The kids are a little out of their routine in the summer…the swings look good, but they are hitting it right at people. We got a good home stand coming up; they have had lots of positive swings. They are getting the pitches they want, just not squaring them up.

With this long home stand coming up, what do you expect out of the team?

Want them to come out and compete. They have a great venue at Benedictine, it is a good time to light a fire and get the job done. This is a good portion of the season in the next seven days. The guys are ready for it…
