Hounds Sign First Player from University of Illinois

LISLE, IL – The DuPage County Hounds (Midwest Collegiate League) announced today that they signed sophomore third baseman Richie Gorski from the University of Illinois.
 
Gorski, who is the first player from University of Illinois to play for the DuPage County Hounds, is currently a sophomore who hails from Streamwood, IL.  During his freshman year at U of I Gorski redshirted.  Gorski played for Streamwood High School and helped his team in 2011 to an IHSA Class 3A sectional championship and an Upstate Eight Conference title.  Gorski posted a .405 average, seven doubles, two triples, five home runs, 36 RBIs and 33 runs and notched a 4-1 record with a 1.91 ERA in 18 1/3 innings on the mound in 2011.  In 2011 Gorski was named to the All-Area and All-Upstate Eight Conference select.
 
The total number of players signed by the DuPage County Hounds stands at seven total, which six are from Division I programs and one if from a Division II program.  All seven players are from the Chicagoland area.  As the announcements continue for the 2014 season roster for the DuPage County Hounds, the team will keep fans informed of the make-up of the team in terms of what towns they are from, schools they attend, as well as the type of program they come from (Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, or Junior College).
 

The DuPage County Hounds are coming off their second season in the Midwest Collegiate League where the team on the field set a league record in the regular season with a .706 winning percentage, clinched their first pennant, and made the playoffs the second season in a row.  Off the field, the team has drawn 25,395 fans over two-seasons, led the Midwest Collegiate League in attendance for the 2013 season, as well as hired two new full-time employees bringing their full-time staff to four individuals.   For more information on the team, please visit the team’s website as www.DuPageHounds.com or call (815) 704-3839.
