Another day, another win for the boys from DuPage. Tonight’s victim was again the Michigan City Lakers who the Hounds had beaten the night before thanks to the stellar pitching of Ryan Taylor. However, it was the Hounds’ bats that carried them to the 7-2 victory tonight. Even though the rain shortened tonight’s contest down to four and a half, the Hounds’ still managed to put up nine hits. The pitching was no disappointment either as starter Joe Palasiewicz kept the Hounds in the ballgame from start to finish.

 

Leadoff man Joe Duncan got the offensive ball rolling from the top of the order, going one for three with a single. Trent Carrier reached base all three times in his three at bats on a walk, single and a no-doubt, line drive home run.

 

Ryan Fitzgerald slid up into the clean up spot for tonight’s ballgame where he went one for three with a single and a RBI. Richie Gorski continues his hot streak by going two for two with a single, double and two RBIs.

 

Dustin Krob found himself back in the lineup after a day off where he went one for two with a double and a RBI. The power-slugging Bobby Wenthe also saw his name back on the lineup card and he did not disappoint either. He reached base twice in his two appearances, once on a walk and once on a line drive single that drove in a runner from second. Finally, Emerson Misch rounded out the Hounds’ slugfest with his one for two day that consisted of a RBI single.

 

As mentioned earlier, Joe Palasiewicz was the only pitcher the Hounds needed through tonight’s five innings of play. He surrendered only two runs on five hits while striking out five over the five frames. On top of that, he did not walk a single batter. After Taylor’s walkless performance yesterday, the Hounds have now not walked a batter in two-straight games.

 

For Michigan City, Devin Bafia led the way by going one for two with a single and a RBI. Joe Kennedy, Colin Willis, Max Kerr and Judah Zukafoose each contributed one hit in the contest, all of which happened to be singles.

 

The Hounds quickly jumped on starter Jake Povlock who gave up seven runs on nine hits in his two and two-thirds innings of work. Chad Mateja came on in relief for the second day in a row and gave up no runs on no hits while striking out one over his one a third innings.

 

The Hounds (21-9) next ballgame is Friday, July 17th at Wayne L. King Jr. Field against the Joliet Admirals (10-15) at 5:00 PM (CT). The Hounds currently lead the season series three games to one.
