The DuPage Hounds start their franchise off right with a 7-4 victory over the Northwest Indiana Oilmen Friday Night. Lefty Brett Maus (1-0)of Triton College got the start for the Hounds in their first game at home, the Village of Lisle Benedictine Sports Complex, and the southpaw didn't disappoint as those in attendance we treated to 7 2/3 strong innings while scattering five hits and giving up just one run. It took a couple innings for the Hounds offense to get going against Tait Rauen (0-1) of the Oilmen as the Hounds were held scoreless for the first three innings despite getting runners in scoring position. The Oilmen were treated to an early one run lead as a Rbi single by Jack Cinoman. But the Hounds came barking back and starting in the bottom of the 4th scored in the next four innings. The Hounds were able to get great jumps of Oilmen pitching as the team stole a total of six bases on the night including two by outfielder Domenic Biagini who stole 3rd and score the tying run and the first run every by the Hounds with a single by Johnny Amann. The Hounds would go on to score two in the 4th 5th and 7th along with one in the 6th to build a commanding 7-1 lead. It was a game late however as once Maus left the game two bases loaded walks by Tony Forcelledo (Quincy University) brought the tying run to the plate in the late innings. Forcelledo was able to get out of the jam with some help from a diving play by first basemen Jordan Rodgers. Going to the top of the 9th it was 7-4 Hounds and with Forcelledo allowing another walk to start the inning, head coach Sean Osbourne had seen enough and brought in Jordan Chudacoff to close out the game. The Oilmen were able to load the bases again but were unable to take advantage as they were held scoreless with the help of a diving catch by the left fielder to end the game. The Hounds continue their franchise opening home stand as the take on the Will County Crackjacks Saturday Night at 6:00 pm. Gates open at 5:00 pm.
