Hound TalkBy: With Saturday night’s rain out against the Rockford Foresters, I had time to catch up with Hound’s third baseman, Alex Hegge. Hegge finished his junior season with the Brescia University Bearcats in Owensboro, KY. This is his first season with the Hounds. He batted .378 in 52 games with the Bearcats this past season. He notched eight two baggers, four triples and three homeruns in 156 at-bats. On Friday’s season opener, Hegge went 1 for 4 with a big double to left-center field. How was your first game with the Hounds? It was awesome. I have never played in a crowd like that before, the fans were awesome. How is the change from metal bats in the college season, to wood bats now? Wood bats hit true, you really have to hit it square. Metal bats you can get away with a lot more. How are your teammates? Everyone seems to get along so far. Everyone is like me, hardnosed and wants to get better. Some funny guys here. What are you most excited for this summer? I am really excited for the military game. Want to thank those guys for what they do for us. I’m also excited to get better. Sunday night’s game is scheduled for 6 P.M. at the Benedictine University Sports Complex. Go Hounds! |
