Hounds Stay PerfectBy: The DuPage Hounds stay perfect as they beat the Chicago Zephyrs 8-1 in 8 innings (game was called due to darkness). This was their first road win of the season.
The Hounds jumped on the board early scoring two runs in the top of the 1st. They did not trial once in the shortened game. Steve Heilenbach pitched a solid outing going five innings and only allowing three hits. The only run scored by the Zephyrs was unearned due to two Hounds errors.
The DuPage offense scored throughout the game tagging the Zephyrs in five of the eight innings.
Josh Keim had a big day at the leadoff spot going 3 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Alex Hegge had two hits, one being a triple, his first of the season. Hegge and Paul DeJong also had two RBIs in the game.
Daniel Will and Mitch Gasbarro came in to close out the game. Will gave up four hits in two innings of work but kept the Zephyrs off the board. Gasbarro pitched one inning and struck out one. Heilenbach got the win as the home pitcher Kyle Bender took the loss.
The Hounds take on the Rockford Foresters this Friday at 7 p.m. at the Benedictine University Sports Complex. Saturday and Sunday the Hounds play the Northwest Indiana Oilmen. Both games start at 6 p.m.
