More than BaseballBy: Tonight’s game was more than baseball. Normally, this game is about stats and scores, who got a hit, and how many were left on base. But tonight in Lisle was something special.
When a roster full of active duty military members, military recruits, and veterans make up the opponents roster, baseball is only a sideshow.
The final of tonight’s game was 4-0 in favore of the U.S. Military All-Stars.
There was great plays that came from both dugouts, but the show was stolen by the young (and older) members of the USMA team.
Tomorrow night is the MCL All-Star game where 12 Hounds will be playing in Indiana and manager Sean Osborn will lead one of the sides.
The Hounds start the second half of the season with three home games. Friday they take one the Lexington Snipes, Saturday the Southland Vikings, and Sunday the Chicago Zephyrs. Ten of their final 15 games are at Benedictine University.
There will be a four team mad dash to the finish as they not only try and fend off each other, but the weather.
The U.S. Military All-Star team heads south to Illinois’ capital, Springfield.
Go Hounds and God Bless America.
