After back-to-back frustrating losses, the Hounds took the field with a little extra vengeance tonight, trying to avoid a season long three-game losing streak. Luckily, the Hounds did just that as they solidified their third win of the season over the Joliet Admirals by a score of, 3-1 thanks their lively bats and dominant pitching. In what was a shortened five-inning game, the Hounds’ bats put up a solid seven hits while the two DuPage pitchers only allowed one.

 

Leadoff man Joe Duncan continued his hot success as of late, reaching twice in his three at bats on two singles. He also went on to steal his team-high 14th stolen base of the season.

 

Hunter Morris continues to find himself in the top third of the Hounds’ order where tonight, he went one for three with a single. All-Star outfielder Zac Taylor slid into the three hole for tonight’s game where he did the most damage for the Hounds’. He went an impressive two for three with two singes and drove in two of the three Hounds’ runs.

 

Everyday Ryan Fitzgerald continues to find his name on the lineup card thanks to his gold glove and high-octane bat. He reached once in three trips to the plate on a single that drove in a run. Richie Gorski followed Fitz in the order where he also reached once on a single in his three at bats.

 

Danny Riley took the ball to start for the Hounds, marking his third appearance of the season. Riley was flat out dominant through the first four frames of the game, allowing no runs on one hit while striking out four. His four innings of impressive work earned him his second win of the season, moving his overall record to 2-0. Manager Sean Osborne then handed the ball over to All-Star Nick Alfini who pitched the fifth and final frame, allowing no runs on no hits.

 

The Only Admiral to record a hit in the contest was Zach Thomas who reached on a single in the bottom half of the second inning. The only Joliet pitcher to take the mound was Brendan Miller who went all five innings in which he allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out three.

 

The Hounds’ next game will take place Thursday, July 9th against the Akadema A’s at 5:00 PM (CT) at the Lemont High School Sports Complex. A non-Midwest Collegiate League team, the Hounds have already played Akadema once earlier this season in which the Hounds won the first meeting.
