Fourth Week Recap

By:

Continuing from the last game of last week the Hounds came out at home with hot bats and were able to battle back from a quick 3 runs put up by the Bobcats in the first inning. After that first inning the Bobcats wouldn't score again. The fourth inning brought in 4 runs for the Hounds giving them a decent lead, but they didn't give up there putting two more runs up in the 6th for a final score of 8-3. Gleaves and Tittle led the team going 2-4 each with an RBI, and Topple led the team in RBI's with 2. Verdun earned the win for the hounds pitching four innings with 5 strikeouts. The second game of Sunday was a shut out with the Hounds winning 6-0. Giuliano went 4 for 4 on the day with three singles and a double which scored the first run for the Hounds. Raffauf earned the win pitching 5 of the 7 innings with four strikeouts. Wednesday's game came down to the eighth inning and the Hounds narrowly escaped with a 9-8 win. The Hounds were the first to score with two in the first but the three in the top of the eighth and holding the Generals to 5 in the bottom of the eighth allowed them to squeak by. The Hound's bats were on fire again with a total of 14 to the General's 7. Toppel led the team in hits and RBI's with 3 hits and 3 RBI's. Taucher earned the win for the Hounds with five innings pitched and five strikeouts. Another win comes for the Hounds on Thursday against the Northwest Indiana Oilmen. With the Hounds scoring in the first and last inning while holding the Oilmen to two runs in the fourth in the fifth made this a low scoring game. Gleaves led the team with 3 hits, 2 singles and 1 triple. Bellina led the team in RBI's and also had a homerun in the first inning to get the ball rolling. Wainscott earned the win for the Hounds pitching 5 innings with eight strikeouts. Friday's game was a close one but they couldn't scrape up enough runs to take the lead in a 6-3 loss. The hounds had 9 hits in the game with Tittle leading with two double and a single. Collins had a solo homerun in the 4th which got the Hounds on the board but with only two more runs in the game after that, it wasn't enough. Saturday's game was a rough one, the Bloomington Bobcats scored first and just kept going until they reached the final score of 13-1. Giuliano went 3 for 3 on the day with two singles and a double, and Verdun had the only RBI for the day.
