Fifth Week RecapBy: This week started off with a double header split against the Crestwood Panthers. The first game was lost in an extra inning 10-9. The game had been back and fourth until Crestwood put up an unanswered run in the 7th. Gleaves led the team with 3 hits, a single, double and homerun along with two RBI's. Mogged also had a homerun putting up one of 2 runs in the 6th. The second game was much more successful with a 16-5 win against the Panthers. The Hounds had a whopping 15 hits during this game despite some steady rain. Toppel led the team with 4 hits, two singles, a double, and triple. Tittle led the team with 5 RBI's from a double and homerun. Bonner followed close behind with 3 RBI's. Padilla earend the win for the Hounds pitching a little over 4 innings with 6 strikeouts. Monday's game had a similar positive outcome winning against the Oilmen 13-5. The Hounds came out hot and fast scoring 3 runs in the first inning and continuing to score every inning until the 5th. With 18 hits on the day there was no run for the Oilmen to catch up. Gleaves led the team again with 4 hits. Collins led the team in RBI's with 4 from a single and homerun. Pelton earned the win for the Hounds in this game pitching six innings with 4 strikeouts. Tuesday's game was less fortunate with the Hounds falling to the Joliet Generals 11-4. Although their bats were hot the day before the hounds were only able to round up 6 hits. Toppel led the team with two hits and two RBI's. Friday's game was closer, but not close enough to pull out a win for the Hounds. With eight hits on Friday Toppel led the team with two singles. Woods and Tittle led the team with two RBI's each as well. Saturday's game was also a close one but this time the Hounds camae out on top. Hounds scored first with two runs and then by the fourth had collected 8 runs to put them up by 1. Two more runs in the sixth inning seal the deal totalling 10 runs for the Hounds. The bats were hot again during this game with 13 hits. Phillips went 4 for 4 with three singles, a double, and 3 RBI's. Giuliano led the team tonight with 4 RBI's. Weller earned the win pitching 4 innings with 2 stikeouts. In the final game for this week the Hounds squeezed out another win. The Hounds gained the lead in the second with three runs and five more runs in the sixth inning would be all it took to win this game 8-5 against the Panthers. Woods, Tittle, and Mogged led the team with 2 hits each. Woods, Tittle, and Gleaves also led the team with two RBI's each. Bianucci earned the win for the Hounds pitching three innings with two strikeouts.
The current leaders for the Hounds include Verdun and Gleaves with averages over .380 for hitting, and Gleaves also leads the team with three homeruns. The Hounds are currectly 21-9 with more than 15 games left to play this season. |
