Hounds Hire Osborne as First Head Coach

By:

Sean Osborne has been named the first head coach of the DuPage County Hounds, who are set to begin their inaugural season as a member of the Chicagoland-based Midwest Collegiate League in the summer of 2012.

The home of the Hounds will be the Village of Lisle – Benedictine University Sports Complex, a location familiar to the new coach. Osborne played two seasons with the DuPage Dragons, now a member of the Prospect League, and recently was the hitting and catching coach of the Benedictine University Eagles.

“I am excited and honored to be part of this new ball club,” said Osborne. “I cannot wait to be coaching on the same field that I played on for two years during my summer experience in college.”

Osborne’s collegiate career began with Mesa Community College in Arizona, where he participated in the 2005 and 2006 Junior College World Series and boasted a .347 batting average in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference. Soon after transferring to Indiana State University for the 2007 season, Osborne was appointed team captain of the ISU Sycamores and received a team leadership award during his tenure.

A catcher throughout his playing career, Osborne looks forward to applying the lessons he learned as a player to the Hounds next season.

“I only hope that I can instill the hard work and discipline that my previous coaches have taught me into the young athletes I will be working with to help shape their futures in college baseball. All the while, hopefully, we will be competitive and have a little fun.”

Most recently, Osborne was the head coach for the junior varsity Robert University Eagles in the 2011 season, a role he will continue next spring before leading the Hounds in their first season. A resident of Lemont, Illinois, Osborne has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Management from Indiana State University and recently received his Master of Business Administration degree from Robert Morris University.

Season tickets for the DuPage County Hounds are now available for the special rate of $115 per seat, until September 30, 2011. Beginning October 1, 2011, the price per ticket will increase to $129.
