DuPage Hounds Opening NightBy: Brett Maus started the DuPage Hounds’ season with a masterful performance on the mound. Maus went eight innings giving up only four hits and one walk. He struck out 14 of visiting Rockford Foresters.
On a breezy night with rain on the way at the Benedictine University Sports Complex, the scoring started in the top of the first inning. The visiting Foresters scored a run on three Hounds' errors.
The Hounds answered quickly with getting a run back in the bottom of the inning also scoring on an errors.
Maus then took over the game with retiring 16 straight batters, starting in the 3rd inning.
Alex Hegge led off the 4th inning with a double into the right-center gap. He later came around to score on an error making the score 2-1.
The Hounds added two runs in the 6th and Maus took care of the rest.
Brian Glynn came in to close things down in the 9th taking the Foresters one, two, three. He earned his first save of the season. Tonight’s final: 4-1.
The Hounds (1-0) take on the Foresters (0-1) tomorrow at 6pm. |
